Keynote by April Dunford at ProductCamp Amsterdam

27 Oct

We’ve been promising you an amazing keynote speaker and we most certainly found one: April Dunford, The Rocket Watcher, award winning Product Marketing blogger, thought leading startup consultant, and all around awesome storyteller.

April will join us is Amsterdam from Toronto and kick off ProductCamp Amsterdam 2010 with her keynote presentation “Marketing is Dead, Long Live Marketing (Why Product Marketers Are Taking Over)”.

April Dunford is the Vice President of Marketing for Solarsoft, a leading provider of Manufacturing Intelligence and ERP solutions with over $100 million in revenue. April has held executive marketing positions at IBM, Siebel Systems, and Nortel as well as a series of successful startups including Janna Systems (acquired by Siebel Systems), DataMirror (acquired by IBM) and Infobright. She is a well-known speaker on Product Marketing and author of the award-winning blog

We’re very happy that April will take the time to come over and join us in Amsterdam. With the keynote we are adding a new, much requested element to our ProductCamp. We got many requests from participants of last year to add a keynote presentation that would be attended by everyone and provide a great start of the day and conversation theme for the remainder. As announced in the schedule before, the keynote will start Sunday November 14th, 2010 at 10:15.

We hope that many people will join us! If you haven’t registered yet, please do so at And if you have, please spread the word and bring along your friends and colleagues for a great day of “talking product”!

We are still looking for a sponsor for the drinks. If you are interested or know anyone, please get in touch at We’re sure the participants will love you for it as they enjoy a cool drink and great company.

Sessions & Schedule

21 Oct

ProductCamp Amsterdam 2010 is now less than a month away and we are glad to be able to announce the schedule of the day. This is what we have planned for Sunday November 14th:

  • 9:30 – Registration and Coffee
  • 10:15 – Keynote Presentation
  • 11:15 – Break
  • 11:30 – Introduction and Session Planning
  • 12:30 – First Parallel Session Block
  • 13:15 – Lunch
  • 14:45 – Second Parallel Session Block
  • 15:30 – Break
  • 15:45 – Third Parallel Session Block
  • 16:30 – Closing and Drinks
  • 18:30 – End

The idea is for everyone to roll in from 9:30, get name tags, grab a coffee and meet some of the other participants. We will then have a great keynote speaker (to be announced soon) to get the day started with a bang!

At 11:30, after a short break, we will get everybody involved. Each participant will get a chance to briefly introduce themselves to the others. We will then have session pitches and plan the three blocks of parallel 45 minute sessions. You can already suggest sessions or vote on them here.

A great way to contribute is to organize a session: Not a traditional presentation, but a discussions between experts, lead by one person, true unconference style. To sponsor a session, all you have to do is come up with a great topic and find enough interested people.

Some of you have already shown interest in sharing your experience in the form of a presentation. Likewise, we know that you are all interested in the sessions that will be hosted on November 14th. Although we want to stay true to the unconference principles and create the agenda together on the day of the ProductCamp, we want to encourage everybody to already start suggesting and discussing session topics.

Anyone with a great idea for a presentation can now post this on our new UserVoice website. Everyone can take a look at the list and vote on the ones they find interesting. On the day of ProductCamp, we will use the results to plan the location and time of all the sessions.

So if you have a great idea for a session, if you are desperate to share your expertise with like-minded people, or if you just have a nice story to tell, let us know by submitting a small summary on our website. And don’t forget to vote on the ones you like! (please note that each session is approximately 45-60 minutes. This should include ample time for discussion).

Hope to see you November 14th!
